LIFE.SYS
One life, run as an operating system.
You wake up. You have 16 hours, a small pile of cash, and a browser tab that won't stop moving. Every day you choose how to spend yourself: work a shift, study, train, eat, post, drink, gamble, steal, sleep. Then you hit END DAY and watch the consequences settle into the numbers.
LIFE.SYS is a systems-first life sim played entirely through a fictional terminal/OS interface. There is no 3D world and no scripted story — there's a deterministic simulation underneath, and it reacts to everything you do.
FEATURES
- A living economy: careers, wages, promotions, rent, debt, and a market of stocks and gold that moves with news every day
- Real needs: energy, health, mood, stress and long-term wellbeing, all feeding back into your work and relationships
- People who matter: message, hang out, gift and date your contacts. Close friendships pay off in concrete ways
- A life of crime, if you want one: heat, police, court, jail, bail — and a record that follows you
- Goals you set yourself, from saving your first $10,000 to running a company
- Save-and-resume in your browser. No account, no server
HOW TO PLAY
- Pick actions on the left, then END DAY to advance
- STATS shows your vitals, skills and graphs; WORK, HOME, MARKET, SOCIAL and CRIME each open a deeper system
- Time is measured in Time Units (TU): you get 16 per day, roughly 90 minutes each. Spend them well
- Mouse over any action to see what it costs and what it should do
DETERMINISTIC BY DESIGN The same seed plus the same choices always produce the same life. Share a seed and you share a run. Try to beat your own.
TECH The whole simulation is a Rust engine compiled to WebAssembly and runs locally in your browser, fast, offline-friendly, and static. Your save lives in this browser's storage.
Start poor. Get capable. Get comfortable. Get free.
